Trading classes focus on teaching you a strategy, they teach you a “system” and how to enter and exit a trade. They don’t develop your skills or teach you how to anticipate market moves. Trading is more skill, rather than a scientific lesson to impart on individuals. Trying to copy someone else’s strategy means you end up with the worst of both worlds. The systems they teach are based on their goals and objectives; and more importantly, these strategies were devised on the basis of a foundational understanding of market mechanics. The vast majority of classes teach the strategy in such a way that students lacking a strong foundation, can grasp the concepts. This is like trying to implement advanced techniques in a sport, without having first developed strong fundamental skills. This concept is magnified in the markets, due to the breadth of market analysis techniques and myriad information that can cloud judgement.
My objective is to improve your trading outcomes. The vast majority of classes are pre-canned for a broad audience and overwhelm you with information. Much of the information is of poor quality, not focused on building your skills. Instead of becoming more sure of yourself, you end up more insecure in your analysis and decision making. The tidbits that may actually elevate your trading, get lost in the sea of information. Some classes may overload you for days, even weeks, and still don’t teach you in a foundational manner needed for success.
Developing a strong mindset and approach to trading is critical to success. How you mentally approach a trade and see the markets is vital; and yet most classes don’t properly address this at all. Often times students will attempt to apply newly learned concepts and find it difficult to execute due to the complexity and quantity of information dispensed. The lack of a constructive feedback mechanism hampers absorption, understanding and real growth. Whether your intent is to become a better day trader, swing trader or investor; my aim is to understand your objectives and experience, in order to most effectively tailor our sessions. A one-on-one personalized approach with after sessions reach back provides a proper platform for developing a foundation to effectively time the market and enhance clarity of risk vs reward at any juncture.
